I had an overheating problem. It would slowly get hoter and hotter. Then the radiator was leaking.. so I replaced it.. then then I replaced the thermostate. Still over heating... but I could shut the car off and the temp would drop. You could watch it go up and down in a matter of 30 secs. It would get so pressurized that you couldn't pinch any water line. It kept blowing lines... first the heater core line blew... then a turbo water line... then one of the lines under the intake. We thought that the water pump was bad. So I pulled everything to get to the water pump... on the front of the engine... and when I pulled the thermostate.. I spun the water pump and the water level went down... stuck my fingers in the hole and could feel the blades.. they were all there. So I pulled the intake to replace the water line that blew. and looked at the engine.. it was aweful. On the good side.. I have done all the bypasses and it will me much easier to pull next time... and I found the overheating problem. the passenger side turbo was clogged... i couldn't even blow through it with an air line. So I blew it backwards and cleared out the lines... I also noticed that as I was pulling the water lines off the bottom of the intake.. all of them crunched... like they were full of shards of rusty metal. So I have pretty much flushed the entire system now... and just started cleaning EVERYTHING! while putting it back together.. ended up taking a few other things off to clean them.. but i am sure you guys know how that goes.
