I've been having battery problems in my car since I had an aftermarket alarm installed. It sat for several weeks without being started and the battery died... since then, if I let it sit overnight, it won't start the next day. (Once it starts, it's fine for a short while though.) I took the battery in to be tested (it's under warranty) and they say it's fine and just needed to be charged, so they charged it. I'm tired of jumping it all the time (it's not being driven right now, so it sits for days at a time), and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to reduce the power consumption. At current, it's a real sensitive alarm (loud systems and exhausts will set it off), so I'm wondering if decreasing the sensitivity will make it any better? Clearly if the alarm goes off less, it'll use less power... but it only chirps maybe once a day so I'm more curious as to if the sensitivity inherently affects power usage. I'm hoping that the battery charge they did might've made a huge difference, but if sensitivity makes a difference, I'll make it less sensitive while I'm at it. I just don't know if less sensitivity automatically means less power usage. Any input is appreciated.
