If there was an adjustable tension rod out there that used the Energy Suspension bushing so you had some shock damping, I'd buy it. It seems to me that I feel more shaking or jolting in my stomach with the worn shocks than when they were new. Sort of what you'd "think" stiff springs would feel like, but I guess that would be incorrect. I know on Bimmerforums most people seem to say you can go way up in spring rate as long as you have enough damper to control it, and it still rides OK. I have 375 lb/in Front and 430 lb/in Rear on my 3 coupe, and it is 3 or 4 times the stock spring rate up front. The only time I was unhappy with the ride was over broken pavement at lower speeds, when it was not too pleasant. Expansion joints weren't terrible, but you couldn't really keep your head on the headrest without your head bouncing some. Obviously the wheel ratios and suspension geometry is different, so you can't directly compare spring rates btwn the BMW and the Z. But, if the Z rode close to what the BMW felt like with the stiff suspension, that'd be fine by me; especially since it won't be a dailly driver.
