| this ... the thing about it is that manufacturer sometimes is not straight up on the reasons why they will or will not do business ... it's the BS reasons that piss off companies when they have met all the written requirements ... I am not justifying the situation between RPS and Z1 as I DO NOT KNOW THE DETAILS .. but I know for a fact that verbal agreements are made and honored on exclusivity and sometimes BS reasons are given after stipulations are met to other companies looking to be a vendor ... Companies like Z1 or SZ only want a fair playing ground and do not want to be excluded from selling the same product if they agree on consistent pricing. The truth of the matter is that pricing is all based on sale volumes and companies that buy more product should have the right to pass those savings to customers. Some companies either don't want to be in that competitive environment ( aka: walmart ) or know first hand that the price agreements will not be honored. I am not making any implications here, just statements. What is starting to become a trend nowadays is that contracts are being agreed upon for exclusivity of products .. similar to SPL has to some JDM items ... which is totally fair / legal as long as it's in writing. When back yard agreements are made, though totally legal, this opens up the door to perceived inequities and disparate treatment and good companies will find a legal and ethical way to work past the product limitations to satisfy their customers. They usually will - 1) get the same item from outside sources and pay a premium above what they would have paid being a direct vendor
2) or offer a competing product to their customers
3) tell their customers that they can not get or do not offer said item
