Message	have never released the 350Z and in its place had taken the Z32 and modernized it, without bastardizing it. There are very few times that I take my Z out that I don't get TONS of compliments on it or offers to buy it. When most people ask what year it is and I tell them its a 91 they almost don't believe me and some of them don't even know that its a 300ZX. I think that people LOVE the Z32 design and the reason that it got discontinued had more to do with market conditions rather than cosmetic flaws. And I agree with Guapos post that when the Z32 first came out it was a trend setter and thats what was so special about it... with the new designs it just seems like they are playing it safe and copying the rest of the market.
