| companies that they are invested in. I have not filed for a patent and you are correct that I hear stories from the people I work with but to say that I know dick about it would be false. The patent system is put in place for a purpose and it is currently the only system available to protect one's inventions. If an inventor choses not to use the system and then has a problem if their product is copied I have little to say other than sucks for them. You keep attacking me as if I'm an ignorant tool who will buy what ever copied item comes to market and you couldn't be farther off base. What I am trying to point out is that an inventors motivation for developing a product for the Z market should not be to "make a lot of money". If they chose not to patent their product they run the risk of it being copied whether they, you or I like it or not. Clearly you have an axe to grind with Z1 and that's fine, but it comes across as hypocritical when you ignore the fact that other respected vendors have copied prior designs. Greg Dupree was not the first to come up with an X-pipe or down pipes. I'm pretty sure Random Technology and maybe some others beat him to it. He has, however, managed to continually develop his product and create a market for them. He could have stopped when Labree and Megan started copying his split design but look where he's gone now and there seems to be no shortage of people willing to buy his latest offerings. Maybe Kyle should be mad that Kuah sells a stainless steel clutch line that looks just like the one's he came up with. Maybe Accusump should be mad that Moroso has an oil accumulator that looks just like theirs (yes I know the accusump uses a bladder). You may not want to admit it but I bet if you thought about it, there is something on your car that is a close copy of something that came before it. Maybe we just have to agree to disagree in our thinking.
