One night I was driving and a car pulled up next to me at a stop light. I didn't notice him and just drove away normal. He thought he was racing and took off. Two blocks later I got pulled out of my car at gun point by a cop who said I was going to jail and losing my car for street racing.
I was cooperative for about an hour then I just got irritated when he said "Well, at the very least I'm getting you for no front license plate." I asked to see his supervisor and then he backed down. He told me he was going to run my record and if I came back with any problems I was going to jail. I was clean so he let me go. The last thing he said was "Nice car. I have one too." Asshole.
If I had lost my car over this I would have been beyond livid. And trust me, this happens more than you think. Guilt by association is what ends up happening. I've been out driving and just happened to get caught in a caravan of people going to a street race. It scared me to death. I pulled off and sat in a parking lot waiting for them to all go by just so I wouldn't have to deal with the cops again.
