alot of tools like the ones below in order:

I used the wire wheel to get rid of the typical oil build up in the plenum. Then once it is cleaned up and there is no oil i would take the grinding stone and smooth out the plunum and smooth out the casting, and while doing that i would smooth out the curves. You can feel how rough it really is and there is dips and "hills" that are just a normal from casting. Once i felt it was smooth enough i follow it up with the sanding disk. They create a nice finish similar to a machined part. I was in the middle of using my sanding wheels when i ran out i was using a really fine finish i probably should get a rougher finish and work my way to fine as the fine ones are just getting trashed quickly. I hope that helps you out i think i will end up doing the same to the manifold. **** SIDE NOTE: Another plus to the wire brush is if you have a extendible unit for the attachments like:
You can shove the wire brush all the way down the runners, allowing you to clean the runners better. Good luck man ill post more pics later next week and try to use my real camera so you can see the finish.
