Message Basically the engine is big air pump.....the more air you move through the engine the more power you make.
The need for more octane to keep it safe comes in with compression ratio and boost levels.
Turning the boost past a certain point for a given compression ratio requires more octane to suppress detonation.
Bigger turbos move more air at the same boost levels allowing more power without turning up the boost.
What I am saying is the larger the turbo you use the more power you can make on pump gas.
Because of size constraints and older turbo designs lack of efficiency we have not seen very large turbos used on the Z.
