| “We fully believe that if biofuels are to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem, there urgently needs to be better sustainability criterion.” I have done a little looking around myself at the Bio diesel/fuel websites and watched a few things on discovery/history channel. From my limited knowledge on the subject Brazil does make 110% of its needs already, any surplus is sent to the UK. Their greenhouse gas footprint is not positive or 0% but rather neutral. The gases that are created are soaked up by the plants in the next season creating a cycle not a one way process. I do also see how creating new farm land isnt going to help in the long run for using plants to get the sugars you need to create bio fuels. What about the people who make biodiesel in their garage/shed using used cooking oil. I know thats a very small proportion of the vehicle driving population, but still I think that is the best method of using oil that is already created and served its purpose. I look at that as a form of recycling.
