Subject	Is this normal for a water pump?

Message	My water pump crapped out on me with only 5k miles on it. I was at the end of my run at the track on Friday night, the belt snapped off, car shut off and coolant went flyin. Look at the fins on the inside of the pump, the fins are not bent on the new pump i put in today. The coolant was leaking straight out from under the pulley. Is it normal for the fins to be bent after the bearing gives out? Does this look like a failure due to the fan clutch going bad? Thanks.
