I've recently been in the market for a 240Z or a 260Z. A couple of years ago it wasn't too hard to find one in crappy shape but still running ($1000-$3000). Now it seems the markets are mostly filled with 240Z's in good shape and overly molested ($5000-$12,000). It may have something to do with those cars being pre 1974 making them smog exempt in many states. Anyway, I'd have to agree with what's been said. The cars in good condition are around $12k with the crappy ones being in the sub $5k range. Give it 2 more years and I think we'll begin to see the market thin a bit more and the 'good' condition Z32's begin to go back up in price. Not to say that I'd ever really consider a car a 'good' investment.
