Message Well I finally got around to pull the heads off my engine. I was expecting the worse when I lifted the heads off but to my surprise I did not find a melted piston or anything. What's your opinion on the condition of the pistons?

This is the passenger bank of the engine.

This is the driver bank of the engine.

I'm really hoping I won't need to work on the bottom end. The goal here was to have the heads rebuilt, and just put the engine back together. I really have no knowledge of going any deeper with this and don't have the funds to have someone rebuild the bottom end. Oh and my garage looks like a war zone, there are parts EVERYWHERE.

I don't intend to make insane amounts of power, just want to get the car back on the road and enjoy it.

As you can see, the engine is pretty filthy, there is grime and oil residue everywhere. I don't even know where to begin cleaning it lol.

And last question, does the block have a tendency of getting rusty like this?

I have nightmares about that happening...I'd be the poor bastard you'd hear about on the news that gets killed by a softball-size chunk while spreading out my body over the hood and screaming "Nooo!" (Having a conversation about hail damage) - BradZ (FL) on March 25, 2005 at 9:56 PM

Tell your friend that you could take a dump, light it on fire and that would be hotter shit than his car. Probes suck, that's just all there is to it. - 300ZXpert (someday) on April 04, 2005 at 11:35 PM

P.S. You REALLY are on here at ALL hours! And I thought I was bad! :) - zmenon on August 16, 2005 at 3:06 AM
