Message a baffled area in the pan acts as a mini surge tank for the oil pump.

However in practice, the oil pump is continually pumping oil away from the pickup area, therefore the baffles need to accomplish 2 things: keep oil from sloshing away, *and* allow oil to return quickly. The 2nd part is the hard part, just because an oil pan is baffled does not mean that it will work.

I haven't seen an baffled oil pan for the Z32 that works, and I doubt I will given the contraints of the engine/bay.
