but I think the Canon Rebel 300D (predecessor to the XT series, or 350D) is a great beginner camera. I think this is the same one that bstyleZ is talking about. You can find them for pretty reasonable prices on eBay. Most folks really don't need the extra megapixels that the XT or XTi would provide. My only complaint with the older 300D is the speed of taking pics and writing them to the CF card. But if you're just planning to do mostly still car shots, it works just fine.
