Message Let me begin by stating I have read the post (which if someone could link it so I can bookmark it this time around it would be great!) in which one member here addresses his disdain for the amount of unwarranted crappy Z pictures people take and thus set out to write a basic how-to-take-decent-photos-even-if-you-suck post for others to enjoy. Well, I enjoyed it. So then in the midst of taking pictures of my Z and so forth, I have really come to the realization that my camera really really sucks, and this was further reinforced when I was taking pictures for a customer (I do high-end automotive detailing on the side) whom I am selling a car for. They allowed me to use their digital SLR camera (a Rebel I believe) and man, it was a beautiful experience using it. Now I finally understand how you guys capture these nice Z shots that I have lusted over so many times.

So my question: I need some up-to date and realistic advice. C-net is only gonna get me so far, and honestly I trust much of what I read here. I tried searching, but not only did I miss posts like mine (most of them were posts regarding what people use in the middle of a discussion), but much of the info is dated, and thus not quite relevant to the situation at hand.

First of all, budget. I am not an experienced photographer, nor do I have the inclination to be. However, I would like a nice, dependable, semi-entry level camera that will last me for years, but I do not wish to spend too much money, especially when the extra money will buy extra camera goodies I will never take advantage of. I may be mistaken, but I assume much of the entry level for a digital SLR will come equipped with more than enough for a basic user. But, that is why I am here, to get firsthand advice. I think your responses will not only help me, but possibly stir others who may have had this in the back of their mind at some point.

So, recommendations?

Forgot to mention, I dont necessarily need the latest/best, and if a predeceasing model means saving dough, Im down.
