Message Ball bearing has become the new buzz phrase when it comes to turbos. THE most important thing when it comes to reducing turbo lag is matching up the right size turbo with your motor. It doesn't matter if that shaft is floating on angel farts, if the turbos are to big you are going to have a lot of turbo lag. Just ask anyone that put 28/28's on their car. As for longevity, under perfect conditions yes, the BB turbos will last longer, but well taken care of bushing turbos can last 100,000 miles plus. But there is a big disadvantage to the BB turbos, they cannot be rebuilt. If something contaminates the bearings, ball bearings, from what I have read, are not any less susceptible to damage than bushing turbos. But now, you are stuck with not being able to rebuild the BB's. At least you can rebuild the bushing turbos, the BB's become paper weights.
