| My gf went and picked these up from the chromers today for me while I dealt with my transmission install from hell problems haha. I'm not much of a bling (chrome) person (thank god cause it's expensive), but I did decide to get these chromed (since I had welded on an additonal metal bung for my Defi Sensor, which made the polish job look like shit) and along with the chrome hardpipes and hood prop I think it'll be just enough to really look nice and not overdone. I must say, I've never really looked at fresh chrome a lot in person, but my god these suckers are bright and hella shiney...especially next to just polished or silver parts. I do really dig it though, as long as done in moderation. They do have a bunch of fingerprints on them here.
Also a little bit on my clutch install from hell lol. Really it wasn't from hell, as it was ALL my stupid fault. Basically as said in a post a few days ago, I installed my clutch and flywheel, then realised I had to get helicoils put into the flywheel. I then had to remove everything, then try again once I got helicoils in the flywheel. Once that was done, I put the flywheel and clutch back in, then also went ahead and stabbed the transmission (I've gotten stabbing the transmission down to a 5 minute art after doing it so many times). After getting the transmission stabbed I got to start bolting it on only to realise that none of the bolt fit. Turns out I put the engine backing plate on backwards. I've done it a million times and know how to do it, but for some reason it slipped my mind. Needless to say, I was pissed off at the world. Pulled the tranny back and looked, and sure enough it was on backwards. It was already real late, so I called it a night and waited till this morning to tackle it again for the third time. This morning, I took everything apart again, flipped the plate on the right way, reinstalled the clutch and flywheel, got the tranny stabbed and bolted on, and tada!...I'm done with that part only after 3 days lol. Seems everytime I do a transmission pull I always have to do it several times till I actually get it bolted on. Anything else with the car is always fine...there's just something about a transmission install that I am just destined to have something go wrong haha. Ironically it's also my least favorite thing to do on the car. Anyways, thanks for reading! A little after this picture was taken I realised the backing plate was on backwards..yay!
Me showing Jake my mad tight skills of lining up the transmission lol. Those hanging fuel lines will soon be replaced with stainless AN lines.
Lined up and ready to go forward!
Member Jaku watching and operating the jack on his first transmission install. Hopefully he learned some good stuff. A second hand is always a lot of help. Thanks Jake.
Off topic, but this is one great benefit of relocating the filters and the oilcooler...so much nice direct airflow to the radiator =)
