Definately get a Mobil 1 M1-208 oil filter. That's like, $9 but it's the best filter out there.

Oil-wise, I prefer Amsoil or Red Line 10W-30 in the winter & either that or 20W-50 in the summer. Lately I've been poor so I run Mobil 1 oil instead. Mobil 1 doesn't make 20W-50 though, just 15W-50 which is pretty close. Since I already had 2½ qts. of 10W-30 I just mixed that with 2qts. of 15W-50 for like, a 12W-40 mixture.

Be sure to fill the new filter with oil before installing it, since the engine sucks oil from the filter and therefore it gets oil right away on the first startup; otherwise the filter has to fill with oil before the engine gets any, and that can take a few seconds.

With the filter change (including filling the filter) the Z engine takes 4½ quarts of oil.

If you're REALLY REALLY poor for some reason then get Castrol GTX, but otherwise definately run synthetic oil. (That is, Mobil 1, Amsoil, or Red Line. Amsoil & Red Line are better but they also cost $8.50/qt. as opposed to $4.25 qt. for Mobil 1.)

Helpful?
