The 84 - 89 series Z31 300zx was the subject of a recall for replacement of fuel injectors. Quite a number of these vehicles suffered engine fires as a result of injector leaks. Strangely, Nissan Australia have no knowledge of such a problem, despite many Z31 engine bays having been barbequed locally due to injectors leaking and consequent fires! Injectors used in the Z32 series are a completely different type, however you will find references on this forum to "fuel smell" and cures requiring tightening and replacement of fuel lines, and in some cases, the fuel damper and/or regulator. Injector seals have also been mentioned. If Z32 fires are becoming commonplace (I've never heard of any here, aside from one which was deliberate), it might be worth inspecting the fuel lines and fittings at next service, and perhaps replacing them with genuine Nissan hoses, given the age of some vehicles.
