I am thinking to buy a used JDM TT engine that I saw in my local classifeds. I plan to keep it on the side and build it up until i have eveything for a swap, which is probably a while. The guy said he has two blocks one has turbos (JDM Swap 1st gen 90-93 vg30dett with around 65k) and the other is just a long block. He said I have to drop the engine from the car if i deciede to buy it(car is toatled) and one of them has a blown head gasket (not shure which one) but he said i could feel free to do whatever i want to "inspect" them if i am serious about buying them. Also he said he dosent know the condition of the turbos but i am free to check them out. He also isnt asking for too much so. So my first questions, what are make or brake things I should look for (cracked head, turbo shaft play, bent valves. . . ECT) What would make the engine pretty much nothing but a boat anchor? About how much does a good "stock rebuild cost"
