Today, at approximately 7:35 am, my 1990 Naturally Aspirated Pearl white ZX bit the big one, and it was among good friends. Met some of the ZCOT people over at 635 and Montfort this morning at approximately 6:45am to go over to Irving for an event. My Z had been running awesome all the way up 75 from my downtown apartment to 635 and Montfort, T-tops off, and i was with my best friend jason to have a day to cruise in my baby. Everyone met up at a parking lot and we all left from there and began heading towards Irving where the event was being held. I had someone in a Z31 in front of me and Michael (Dallas) behind me in his (gorgeous) pearl white TT. We hit 183 and everything felt great and fine, we all changed lanes together and i began to smell smoke, we both thought it was the car in front of us....yeah, how could it be my car, it was running perfectly. Then it hit, the whole interior filled with dark smoke and we could barely breathe, thank goodness the T-Tops were off. I immediatly went for the brakes....uuh, no brakes, i hit the E brake and slowed down from about 55 mph to a stop between an onramp and the highway. The guys behind me saw it coming. I jumped out of the car which by this time was smoking from all over the place, billowing everywhere. jason opened the door and got out while we were still slowing down. i was, uuh...in a panic, got out of the car and took off, with a fresh full tank of gas it couldn't have been pretty if the flames got to the full gas tank. Finally, the fire truck came and began to douse the car in water. The flames were huge billowing from the car...it was sickening. I was standing there with fellow Z'ers watching my car in flames. Tow truck came, took it away with me and jason in it. Well, i got pics, here they are. They are not for the squeamish mind you...it just sucks. my baby is gone. i thought the jspec front logo looked really cool this morning

the fire was all over the car in some capacity or another. there was hot molten plastic dripping from the bottom of the car.
 Me and my friend are lucky to be alive for sure...that fire got out of hand FAST. I have NO idea what caused it. Michael (Dallas) was behind me and said he saw sparks or something. If anyone else that was there that posts here saw it, let me know. Is this like, what, the third or fourth Z in the last month to burn??? this is insane...i smell a class action lawsuit? many thanks to the other Z guys and gals there to support and watch it burn, every Z'ers nightmare. it's just a car..that's all i keep telling myself
