Message I set out to get a lot done this winter break, and I am fairly satisfied with the progress I made and thought I’d share.

In November I picked up a 94TT with zero compression from the number six cylinder. It had 59k on the clock, and I was pretty excited about the find. I then laid out a plan for my build, and put it into action.

I had a set of ADR M Sports from an earlier project with new Michelin Pilot Sport tires and threw them on. Nismo tails will soon replace the stock tails and update the look.

I was never a big fan of the 94+ wing, but man has it grown on me. Its my absolute favorite wing now :-)

My father and I had been looking for at various auto lifts for the past couple months. We service all of our vehicles, as well as my dad’s fleet vehicles for his business. We came across Greg Smith Equipment Sales out of Indianapolis, Indiana and liked what we saw. My room mate then won an eBay auction for a Jeep hardtop and the item was located 7 miles from their showroom in Indy. So my dad and I decided there was no better time than now, and my room mate and I took a road trip. I probably should have taken a box shot, but oh well.

With the help of my dad and some friends, we had the lift up in an evening. Thankfully we already had 220V ran into out shop for the welder, so it didn’t take me long to do the wiring. It is the HR-8000 model and will lift the Z 75 inches off the ground. I also got an 8 gallon oil catch. I need to move the 8’ light out towards the front, and install another in the rear. I also will be installing a compressor in the attic and dropping air lines down in various locations in the shop.

The Jeep in the photo is an ’80 CJ-5 that my dad and I rebuilt when I was 14, and what really got me into cars. The motorcycle is my 2000 CBR F4 and is my first bike with 5k miles. Its great for getting around on campus and makes me excited to leave for class.

I picked up some shelving from Home Depot in preparation for the engine pull and for some more storage space. The shelves are pretty rickety, so I anchored them to the wall. If you are looking for storage space, I don’t think I would recommend these. But they will do the job.

After thoroughly organizing and cleaning the shop, it was time to pull the motor. My friends Lane and Aaron gave me hand with the pull. As always, thanks to you guys. Although I have pulled 3 Z motors now, this is my first “standing-in-the-engine-bay” shot.

And my new twist, courtesy of the lift.

Aaron snapped this one when I wasn’t really paying attention – the new motor and the old motor.

This is the built motor I bought from FourZero’s part out. The motor is a fresh rebuild with knife edge crank, Eagle rods, Wiseco 87.5mm pistons, Manley 1mm OS valves and ARP fasteners throughout. I also really liked his engine scheme and purchased his upper plenum, TB’s, Balance tube and water pipes. I will be adding JWT #500 cams, Heavy Duty Valve Springs, upgraded head gasket and JUN cam gears to the motor.

I want to thank John for his great communication and professionalism throughout the whole deal. Also, the crate was gorgeous and really protected the motor. If you guys are considering buying something from FourZero, don’t hesitate.

My friend Aaron thought this angle might make for a cool photo. I got the banner from the West Formula SAE competition for “free” ;-)

The built motor and its future home.

I hope to have the whole project completed by Spring Break/late March. I am planning on doing 700BB’s with full 3” and all supporting mods/maintenance. Depending on the remainder of my budget, I will be installing my ’99 Front, fender-up respray and 3M clear bra this summer. But that may have to wait until the following winter.

Thanks for looking, I’ll post updates as they come in. It would really help me out if I sold some more parts, so check out this link to my classifieds ad. Lots of great parts.
