...that this could be history repeating itself, although maybe with not so severe of an effect to the performance enthusiast.

When it comes to cars and power output, some would say that we are in somewhat of a golden age. It seems cars have become much more powerful than they used to be. It seems that on average the power output of today's vehicles is high.

The last time that the CAFE standards were changed was 1975, right after what might have been another golden age, i.e., big block Camaros, Mopars, Fords, etc. Now we shall see the effects of another CAFE change, after another "period of power." The previous change resulted in 180hp muscle cars (if you want to call them that) and effectively strangled the performance right out of them. Wonder what this will do.........

I like the change in standards, just commenting on the parallels with the previous change in '75.
