Where in your searching did you draw this conclusion from? Yes, the 17x9 will fit the front with a +35 offset, but you'd be wasting your time running a 235/40 on it. You might as well go 275s all around, but having a 17/18 setup defeats the purpose of equal tire width on all four corners, IMO. I run 17x9s with 275s so I can rotate them from front to rear. If you're set on the staggered setup (width-wise), you might as well just go with the 18s, but for the love of GOD, run something wider than 235mm on the front.
