If it's an obsolete post, it will create erroneous inquiry. You raise a good point tho. However, a feedback system would be better suited, like on eBay. Bottom line is we weren't given that. We should be grateful for what we're given and use it to it's fullest extent, and not try to overwork it. Keeping "fulfilled" classified ads wastes space, slows search function and is really not what was meant to happen, if I may be so bold. I believe the creators of the site wanted an up-to-date record of what is on sale, and what is wanted. What has been sold and what was once wanted has no real use. If you want to be recognized as legit, be legit, too legit to maintain superfluous records. In my opinion people who do not maintain their classified ads and delete old posts (and simply repost) are not as legit as those who act otherwise.
