Message Here's the process I used when re-painting my exterior trim pieces.

Went to Wal-Mart and bought Plasti-kote trim spray, Plasti-kote primer, masking tape made especially for automotive paint and 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper. The entire supplies cost less then $15!

1. Washed and dried car.
2. Park car in controlled area with no wind and adequate ventilation. A mask for your face is preffered.
3. Taped off most of the car with the tape and newspaper. For the side mirrors I wrapped little plastic bags around them and tied them shut.
NOTE: Take your time when taping and masking off the car!!! More is not better, but in this case it is. You can never have to much newspaper or tape. The more layers of newspaper the better.
4. After car is masked off to your satisfaction, use rubbing alcohol to clean all the trim.
5. If you have chrome exposing through your trim pieces, sand it down with the 1000 grit sandpaper.
6. I cleaned the trim again with rubbing alcohol (optional). Remember the cleaning the surface the better the adhesion.
7. After the alcohol hasd dried, I sprayed primer over the areas where chrome was exposed.
8. Let dry for 30 minutes, then came back and put on a 2nd coat of primer.
9. After 30 more minutes I sprayed the trim paint.
NOTE: Shake can vigorously before use. Spray @ about 10-12" away from surface. Spray one side @ a time before stopping. Always better to spray past the end point. 3 coats should do fine.
10. Let sit, then remove tape and newspaper.
11. If you see any overspray don't worry. I used Meguairs body scrub cleaner to remove with no problem( Clay-bar or rubbing alcohol may also work just as well ). If you find overspray on your windows, just run a razor blade over it and it will come off extremley easy( no effort ).

I know there has been many posts about how people have done this procedure. Just thought I'd add mine.
