Message	Had it that way (if I am understanding you) but with all the seams there (4 with the suade, bezel, metal frame around radio then the radio) it just looked better all moudled in. The screen only stick out about an 8th of an inch. Plus it's an auto so when the car is in park, the shifter blocks all that real estate under the radio.
