It does not need to measure sides or compensate for uneven flow because it measures total pressure at the manifold. It also uses intake temperature, and converts those readings to a 0-5v MAF signal. You could have one bank flowing no air because a massive boost leak and you won't run rich. Since the air is not making it to the manifold, the MAP isn't measuring it. So no worry about boost leaks or bov's venting to atmoshpere, if the pressure isn't in the manifold, then there is no extra fuel. If a MAF meters air (single or dual setup) and the air exits behind that point, the ECU doesn't know this and will send whatever amount of fuel was expected for the air coming in. This is why a rich moment and stalling can happen with a bov, the ECU doesn't know that already metered air has been vented to atmosphere.
