Message But I am talking about solid lifters being used in the VG30 engine specifically. And, aftermarket solid lifters for this engine do eliminate the oiling hole which is something to consider since the VG30 does not have any other means of directly oiling the cam lobes other than puddling.

When you eliminate the lifter oiling, you might find the oil weeping from the cam journals and lifter bores is sufficient to lube the cam lobes, but I haven't seen one of these things running with a valve cover removed to see how the oil is spraying out of these areas.

IMO the direct oil hole in the lifter is a great idea and if the solids had it, even better.
