prep work myself and he helped me at the end just to touch up on minor things. Doing your own prep work, this paint job would have come out to around $2,000. If he does everything, it would be around $4,000- $5,000 including body work (chips, dings, dents, any body damage), primer, sealant, paint, and then one more sanding, and finally polishing. The cousin was telling me that he doesn't recommend just painting the car without prepping because the paint will start to peel over time, even if light prepping was done. So, I guess if you want to do a good job, you have to do it the hard way. I hope this helps.
