Message to tie a ziptie around the base of the shock piston shaft, drive the car accordingly on track, then see how far the ziptie rode up on the piston shaft. If it reaches the bumpstop then obviously that is not enough preload. Then you increase preload, adjust the lower bracket accordingly to get your ride height, then test again.

I have some tricks I developed to quickly set preload when I tune a car, but I am not divulging them :)
