Message	guage area -- similiar to what footlights do for stage? If so, had them on my 2+2 (this cluster configuration doesn't seem to be very common) -- was very happy to elminate them. If you look on the bottom of the cluster you'll see two metal straps that connect up to the rear circuit board and are fastened down by screws. Just remove the screws and those bulbs won't light up. FWIW - I replaced my cluster rear illumination bulbs with 5w color corrected halogen bulbs, worked really great -- nice and crisp paper white in color. Color corrected bulbs have a blue tint but make the orange filament light come out white. 5w bulbs are 25% brighter than 4w stockers.
