Subject	Is exhaust manifold heat shields a necessity?

Message	Got a problem and would appreciate some advice. My engine didn't come with exhaust manifold heat shields and I failed to notice it until my new engine got dropped in. What could I do now about it? I don't want to remove the engine again if I don't have. Any suggestions fellas? I read on a search query here that a heat blanket of some sort could be used. Is that one of my best option right now (most affordable with little risk of damaging any engine bay components)? If so, where can I get these "blankets"? How should they be applied?
