Doesn't matter if you race or not. If you have an impact of any sort to any large degree (i.e. you hit someone, someone hits you, you are slammed into by a semi, etc.), you will be in big trouble. Picture being harnessed in, and having an impact that forced the rear strut tower bar backward, pinning you between the seat and the harness. It would literally crush you, as the weakest link will give first, and unfortunately for you, that would be your body. Trust me, the second you put vanity before safety, it may be the biggest regret of your life.
