Message is because the auto tranny allows the turbos to stay at full boost as the gears change. Each time a manual tranny is shifted, the turbos fall out of boost and have to jump back up to full boost again. It all happens very quickly, but to my understanding the time can add up in a race.

Like others mentioned, it entirely depends on the driver/configuration. An auto tranny can have a 3x00 RPM stall, so it launches at full boost just like a manual. However, some manuals have carbon/carbon clutches that can be slipped while the brake is held, and it will launch in a similar fashion once the brake is released.

Cheers,
JBrobst
