Subject	Installing j-spec tails, help with black tar stuff removal

Message	I got my tails out but the black tar stuff around the unit that creates seal between unit and metal frame is impossible to clean off the metal. How do I clean this off without damaging the paint on the metal? Do I really need to clean it off or can new tar strip just be put over this stuff? Please help as I am in the middle of this right now. Thanks, Mark
