Message And since you basically glossed over what I said with a somewhat disrespectful response, I don't think you'll ever really get it or admit if you do. You don't even see the connection I made to the other parts. Instead, you say that you didn't mention any of those things so what I said is discounted. Of course you didn't, I was making a parallel that you clearly missed. Fine, I'll play today and address your new post.

So you want to talk about skill level which, dare I say, varies completely on the car. Is it more difficult to launch the average manual car? Absolutely. However, when you get passed Joe Blow weekend racer and down into the 1.5s range, it's equally as hard on both cars. I'm sure you're one of those people who has no clue all the work that goes into getting an automatic car down the strip quickly. Don't lie to me with your magazine/television/bench racing knowledge. You've never done it so you don't know. It's not easy at all and the people who have switched are finding that out, even Seb who now has an auto. Those of us with good times spend YEARS practicing the technique of the burnout, learning where to hold the RPM, how to hold the e-brake/manual brake at the same time, proper release, lockup, etc. There's a reason why when Greg gets in our cars he gets better times than any of us ever have. If it's all the transmission doing the work and not the person, why is that the case? He has 20+ years more experience than we do.

It's easy as hell with an auto to push the gas and go forward. It's hard as hell to overcome having a SLOWER car (yes, slower as we lose a lot more through the drivetrain than 5-speeds) by inching your way down with proper technique. Do you even realize that my Z only put down 348RWHP because of the transmission loss, smaller turbos and cam profile? I had to WORK to inch away at those tenths. Sure, I don't have to shift those extra two times after the launch, but you bet your ass the launch itself is equally as hard to get right. There's way more involved than mashing the gas to be truly quick.

I never bring this up, nor do most of us auto owners because it's so opposite what you ignorant manual owners have ingrained into your heads that it's like talking to a WALL. There's no chance in hell you'd understand or even try to unless maybe Arnel, Greg, Seb and some of the others helped chime in. Odds are, they wont see this rant anyway or are smart enough not to fight impossible battles.

I've always had a weakness there =)
