Anyone know where I can buy aluminum stock? :-) I bet I could buy a piece of stock for a flywheel for ~$50, have the stock flywheel machined to acquire the gear ring and have a plate machined for the clutch disk. Attach gear ring and clutch wear plate and balance it. I could machine it for $150. Any semi-intelligent mechanic could even build a simple balancer and balance this themselves. Even better idea: UD pulley. I bet you could get the aluminum stock for $30 - bore the shaft hole and mill the key slot - turn pulley on lathe. Forget anodizing pulley, but that could be done with a kit for $20. Machining cost: $50. I'm going to the machine shop tomorrow - I'll let all of you know how the fabrication process goes. How does a $200 aluminum flywheel and $80 UD pulley sound? Yah, I think you get the pic. Ash
