OK, OK so I could go to some Wrangler forum, but this is pretty general engine related stuff and I know and trust you guys(most of you, lol). Anyway, I was showing my friend my Jeep's new exhaust today and he was like "it's burning oil, smoking" I was like WTF??? I just looked at it last night and no smoke. Sure enough, big puffs of black smoke at idle, and if you revved it, it put out a big cloud of black smoke when you let off the gas. He thinks it is shot rings, anyone have any ideas?? This sux, just put a new muffler on it and new U-joint and lift on it not 2K miles ago and new steering box maybe 5K miles ago...sigh. It has NEVER smoked before, and just last night I was letting it idle and feeling the exhaust to see how much pressure was comming out cause I think my cat con is dead, and there was NO smoke. Today tons. I drove it about 55 miles roundtrip to work today, do rings go bad just like that? I guess I should do a compression test and then add some oil and check it again, eh? It is too hot to do that right now, any other things I can check? Thanks for any help, Mike
