over the years, the software doesn't become as dated as other types of programs. I've been using multiple iterations of it over the years (among the rest of the CS), and it will still function very well if you know how to manipulate all of the tools. Although the average person who doesn't use it on a professional (and daily) basis probably won't even utilize all of its potential. That said, CS2 on an Intel Mac makes me want to cry and yet a copy of CS3 on the same system is like liquid gold. It is so choice; I highly recommend picking one up if you have the means. ; )
