...and they will crack again. On my dad's hotrod (obvioulsy a bit accelerated problem with a big fat carb) they've dried out and cracked when the car wasn't even being driven (just by the stress of being a bit stretched). The vinyl caps come in black, red, white, etc -- can be had at any parts store -- sometimes you have to buy a variety pack. :Let me start by saying that I have noticed my Z being sluggish, having a harder time building boost, blowing a lot of black smoke under WOT, car dying/stalling when coming to a stop and pressing in the clutch in, rough idle and the crappiest gas mileage its ever had. I could really notice it during a spirited run yesterday (thanks Ryan, it was a blast). :To make longer story a little shorter I figured it was some sort of boost leak but I haven't had a chance to test it lately. I was cleaning up the engine bay a little to take some pictures and noticed this.... : : :I was stunned of how large of a leak it was and it was right off of the balance tube. Then I got to thinking... I had these plugs from the same pack two other places on the motor... both of them were in the exact same shape. Wow. Three good sized boost leaks. I went up, bought some new plugs (different brand), coated them with silicone spray and put them on the car. When i took the car for a test drive I had my old Z back again. It built boost almost instantly and pulled very hard, no smoke, and it didn't drain any gas even know I dogged the crap out of the car for a couple miles. :Also made a fiberglass mounting box for my profec b to keep it from moving around, turned out great and solid. : :Last but not least here are some pics I snapped before it got to dark. I would have taken a lot more if I hadn't used my time up on fixing the boost leak issue. : : : : : :
