Message Again, purely out of curiosity, have you looked at datalogs on an in-dash screen? Maybe they're different than the ones I've seen, but if I put all the info I want/need to see on one graph, I have trouble deciphering all the different colors on my laptop, tablet, and/or tower screens. Even if I save it as a text file, it's a lot of info to view on one screen. I can only imagine it all being on a 7" (I'll give you 8" for the benefit of the doubt) screen. I say that sarcastically since I've seen them on said screen size.

I really just don't see why you think it's "the next evolution in Z tuning," or whatever you said. FWIW, I looked down this road myself (you know, having a full standalone already and everything) and it proved to have no benefits over using a laptop to get my datalogs and upload new maps. I especially looked into it since I would have to buy a new laptop since my current one's battery wouldn't hold a charge and all my other portable computing devices didn't have a serial connector. It was much more plausible for me to buy a tablet and the appropriate USB adapters than to go to a car computer. I believe the car PC was actually cheaper, too.

As to your knocking answer, why would you adjust the CAS if just one zone produced knock? That would defeat the purpose of a full standalone, no? I know I like being able to adjust just sections of my timing. And it makes it so much easier on the side of the road than having to break out the timing light (which, I'll be damned, I always forget to bring with me at all times) and a 12mm wrench.

The part I find most humorous is the fact that you are really having this conversation with me.
