Message As you said, the RB25 and VG30 transmissions have the same internals. Not sure if anyone has tried to adapt an RB25 tranny to a Z, but I don't think anyone has because they are pretty much the same.

As for the 240SX with an RB25 or RB26 swap, as far as I can remember they use the RB25 tranny because the RB26 tranny is for an all wheel drive (the GTR), so it doesn't fit. Btw, not all GTRs came with a 6 speed. The R32 and R33 came with a 5 speed, which also has the same internals as our cars (some people say that it is beefed up, but the majority say that it's the same). Only the R34 GTR came with a Getrag 6 speed tranmission. Additionally, RB26 swaps use an RB25 oil pan.

Many 240 owners with an SR20 swap use the Z32 transmission, modified to fit the SR20. The Z32 tranny is a lot stronger than the S13 and S14 SR20 5 speed tranny. The S15 came with a 6 speed too. You can also adapt the Z32 auto transmission to the KA24 (as AMS have done with their drag 240).
