Message I need a new dd too, my 95 VW golf is junk, always breaking down and barely gets beter gas mileage than my tt and the insurance is only 200 bucks cheaper than my z for a whole years insurance

best car if you are not mr money bags is a used toyota corolla CE, there are 5 spds out there that no one wants as the market for those cars is mostly auto trannys. The corolla is the most reliable car ever made, check out consumers reports or talk to any mechanic.

they are plentiful on the used car market and from wholesale lots, they get 50 mpg on the highway and they dont get ripped off or broken into as much as honda civics or Acuras.

front wheel drive is good enough in the snow, I live in Canada and have had three front wheel drive cars for winter beaters, you can always add a Quaife LSD for better traction and snow tires to get the best out of it for the winter months

if you want something more uspcale go for an Acura 1.6EL, you can get them with 5 spd leather heated seats p sunroof, and all power options plus ABS

Corolla is my next dd after my motor rebuild is done

I can always sell you my Golf if you want in Sept! lol

:im in the market for a winter daily driver....i was looking at a few things, one of which being a ford focus which i once owned before in the past, but my problem with that car is, the insurance is high for such a cheap little fun car...which pisses me off a bit...i was also looking at a volvo s40 awd t5 too, a lot more $ but cheaper insurance (not that it makes such a BIG difference). I mainly want something for the winter seasons, no going to buy anything till like sept since it'll be pointless to have a winter beater in the summer seasons. my Z is currently in the driveway without an engine :( getting it redone and probably won't get all the parts together till end of summer-mid fall. So right now im stealing my father's daily driver here and there and also going to bank on using the motorcycle most of the summer. any recommendations on some other daily drivers? I really want something with a manual transmission...
