Message bingo on the tripod ...

grainy pictures = aka noise is a problem you'll continue to face
Camera ... its a point and shoot and unfortunately ALOT of point and shoots will suffer from this b/c of the sensor. The sensor is small and its more prone to digital noise.

But you can try some things to lessen the noise
ISO setting yours is on 200 .. now this might be your lowest ISO setting (I'm unfamiliar with your camera). But the lower you go the less sensitive the sensor becomes to light. It'll take longer to take the picture .. but you'll have a tripod .. so thats a moot point. But this is a double edged sword .. because of the sensor it'll be more susceptible to noise the longer the sensor is exposed so you'll have to play around with settings till you find one that works. Typically its a good idea to use the absolutely lowest ISO setting you can.

Course you could just download a noise reducing program like NoiseNinja and just get rid of it after the fact .. these program will soften a photo .. but they are usually pretty good.
