Yes to your first question. Question # 2: you can hook the alarm up to the key sensor rather than the ignition. One wire goes hot when you insert the key (door chime starts...). In this manner the alarm can arm b/c it believes the car is off when you take the key out. You may have to turn down the sensitivity of the vibration sensor as your engine may shake a bit when turned off, and you don't want that to set off your alarm. Also I disabled my factory alarm. Search for that, it's posted somewhere (faq or tech).
