for those of you who don't know what a Supertrapp is, it is basically a straight-thru glass pack with a cap on the end. Btwn the cap and the can you have disks that stack on top of each other, but let exhaust gasses out. By varying the number of disks you can change the backpressure and exhaust loudness. More disks=more top end power, less backpressure, and more noise. This might be a good thing for NA's as you can set the backpressure where you want it. I got my all-stainless, fully rebuildable Supertrapp for $150. Anyway, after that long intro here is my real question: even with NO disks or end cap on(straight pipe) the Jeep is quiet. I mean even when I stand on it in 1st gear it makes a little noise, but nt much. It is easily 5 or 10 times more quiet than my NA w/ PE's on it. My NA has 25% less displacement, and has two mufflers and much, much more sound absorbing material in the mufflers. Why is the 4.2L I-6 so quiet? I am thinking that my cat is taost and is choking flow and cutting off all the sound. In windy conditions the Jeep struggles to hold 70mph, a lot of times won't even hold 65 on the highway in 5th. It had 117hp stock, but doesn't weigh very much, hard to tell how much power it is suposed to have, it has 114K miles on it, I've had it since it had 60K and it has always felt like this.(as far as I can remember, but I've had it for going on 7 years, so power may have been dropping off slowly and I just didn't notice it...) Oh yeah, putting the muffler on helped power a bit, but not nearly as much as I would have thought. I took off the airfilter houseing cover so the carb had no restriction, this barley helped any either, and there was basically no perceptible intake noise, even under heavy throttle. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike
