Message ATI damper GB²

Disclaimer
I'm not going to sell anyone on the reasons why they might need a harmonic damper instead of a UD hub; you either understand and believe that vibrational harmonics rob power, are destructive and therefore need to be controlled or you don't. Please read the links below for some good information on harmonic dampers and their merits.

Harmonic dampers vs. UD pulleys.

Inside the ATI damper.

RACE Damper Specifications

  • Weighs 7.24 lbs (stock weighs 13.40 lbs)
  • SFI 18.1 approved
  • Laser engraved timing marks 360°
  • Aluminum pulleys and inner shell
  • Rated up to 1000 HP
  • Hub is separate from the damper (you can unbolt the damper without pulling the hub from the crankshaft) which if you have multiple engines will allow you to run one damper on all if you have them all fitted with hubs.
  • Pulley ratios are 8% OD on for the power steering and 6% OD for the AC and alternator (these are not under-driven)

  • Street dampers that are under-driven will be available in several weeks. However, so far everyone has been interested in the Race dampers only.

The theory is that the larger diameter of the Race damper (6" OD inertia ring) is better at controlling harmonics at higher RPM's than a smaller diameter Street damper (5" OD inertia ring).
