Message Not picking or nothing, but arent ducted smic's more or less sealed off on the back side and therefore rely significantly on the low pressure aft of them to pull the ambient air through the frontside of them and out the vents just ahead of the wheels WHere air rushing under the car would be of lower pressure as speed increases? The VG30DETT Datsun 510 relies on low pressure zones on the hood to assist in pulling air thru it's 2 IC's from below IIRC, they are mounted flat and below, but in the same plane as, the hood. So simply blowing a fan on our smic's wont cut it, especially if no air is rushing by those vents behind them, whereas the fmic is fully exposed and just relies on the air being forced through it, making a fan more or less suitable.

So basically it seems like if the smics arent ducted right or getting proper airflow both fore and aft, they would be hindered and vulnerable to heat sink, unlike a fmic which clearly is a simpler design, no ducting. Am I mistaken here?

Tsk tsk, some people just don't know when to stfu
